Accelerate Athletic Progress
Sportly is a junior sports development app for the Australian market, where junior athletes, their coaches, and clubs can find tools to improve their training. I was approached early in this product’s development to illustrate the training cards for the different development areas an athlete or coach would access. The app started with just basketball but has since grown to also include: soccer, cricket, netball, Australian rules football, rugby, softball, and triathlon.
Rewarding the Players
Digital merit badges can be a lot of fun. They set goal posts for users, allow businesses to reward their patrons, and encourage active participation. The best part for me, however, is that there’s often a lot of creative freedom when designing them. Achievement badges are ideally suited for sports as they are intended to gamify engagement. For this app the focus was on creating art that was playful, but also informative, and clear. The hope is to encourage tangible real-world achievements to be measured, recorded, and rewarded.
